The Scientific Affairs Department is the main meeting place for the university’s scientific output in various fields, from patents to scientific publishing. The department also follows up on a wide range of diverse scientific activities, such as conferences, seminars and workshops, in addition to taking care of other scientific aspects. The department was established when the University of Technology was founded in 1975, and consists of three divisions: the Scientific Division, which is concerned with scientific research and projects; the Scientific Output Marketing Division, which is concerned with promoting and marketing innovations and inventions; and the Scientific Journals Division, which monitors the performance of the journals published by the University of Technology-Iraq, in addition to evaluating the accreditation of scientific journals. The department seeks to promote scientific research and transfer knowledge, which contributes to enhancing the university’s position and making valuable contributions in the fields of science, technology and innovation.
Vision
The vision of the Scientific Affairs Department is to promote sound scientific research and innovation, achieve academic excellence in various fields, and seek to have the university’s scientific journals enter global containers. The department aims to support scientific activities, encourage sound scientific publishing, and promote innovation and academic excellence among students and researchers. The department seeks to enrich knowledge, enhance research skills, and stimulate the scientific spirit of the teaching staff, which contributes to the development of the research and innovation community at the university.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Academic Affairs is to promote scientific research and innovation, stimulate innovation and academic excellence among students, faculty and researchers, and enhance the culture of research and innovation in the academic community.
Goals
- Strengthening and consolidating the outcomes of scientific research at the university.
- Encouraging and motivating teaching and research cadres to raise the level of research work at the university.
- Developing scientific communication and fostering distinguished relations with universities, research centers, various state institutions, scientific and cultural associations, and developing cooperation with them.
- Developing teaching staff by adopting training programs by prestigious international universities and urging professors to devote themselves to such universities to conduct scientific research at a high level and transfer modern technology to our universities.
- Exploring areas of scientific and cognitive development, keeping pace with them, and developing the cognitive and research capabilities of teaching staff.
- Developing creative scientific activity at the university and documenting data in a unified manner for all scientific activities of the university, including conferences, seminars, workshops and discussion groups, and following up on their outcomes and disseminating them to ensure achieving the maximum possible benefit.
- Sponsoring, encouraging and following up on the university’s distinguished intellectual output, including publications, studies, patents and other distinguished scientific output.
- Follow up on the publications of scientific journals issued by the university’s various formations and work to consolidate and raise them to the level of similar international journals.
