Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Riyad Khalil from the Department of Scientific Affairs presented a workshop titled “Gender Equality in Developing Societies: Challenges and Opportunities” on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Control and Systems Engineering Department. The workshop addressed the persistent challenges developing societies face in achieving gender equality, particularly the significant gaps women encounter in education, employment, and healthcare—despite notable progress in recent years.
Dr. Rana highlighted the profound obstacles in this field, including gender-based discrimination and violence against women. At the same time, she underscored key opportunities to advance equality, such as enhancing women’s access to education and vocational training, promoting their economic participation, and ensuring comprehensive healthcare services.
